Nothing really troubles seventeen-year-old Roman Fairchild, a moody, anarchistic computer-building recluse—not even being a tricardiac with a heightened bioelectric output. That is until his final chance at meeting his online girlfriend becomes a night of fiery chaos when the Siphon, a political war game replacing executive government comes crashing down (literally) on his doorstep. Before long Roman’s world, both at home and abroad, is thrown into upheaval. Entire cities are disappearing, leaving nothing but voids of floating rock in the earth as the government staggers in search of answers. All the while, Roman’s fragile family threatens to tear itself apart... Read More

I have to say, this whole "having something I actually have an obligation to update regularly" is becoming a bit frightening for me. Some people asked me why the story didn't update on Friday, as we're supposed to be on a Tuesday-Friday schedule. Being that I'm fresh out of the forum world, where people avoid your stuff if it updates too frequently, I thought I'd give everyone a week to read the first four updates and supplement before ploughing ahead. Looks like everyone's caught up already. Oops.
Live and learn, I guess. ^^;
In other news, I've been reading a lot of reviews for Dark Tranquillity's new upcoming album, "We Are The Void." Readers who know me from the foruming world will know what a special place that band has for me. I wouldn't call myself a metalhead, per se (not any more), even though metal makes up the majority of what I listen to. Usually I listen to music where I discover the actual band before the fanbase (lets face it, folks, fanbases can be scary as all hell--just look at the one for Slayer). That's more difficult with metal, especially with how mainstream it's gotten in the last few years.
That's what I've always liked about DT--it's one of those bands that just refuses to conform to the genre that they're a part of, and even helped create. That's the thing about genres. They start to become a boundary of creation rather then some means of marketing when they get too pervasive. On the upside, genres can be a timed killswitch on letting things get old (I'm looking at you, metalcore). Or they can be like DT, a band that uses it to start, and then growing outside of it.
Most of the reviews for the album are very positive, and I'm really interested to see how this release is regarded by fans. Usually by nine studio albums, a band has already started to go sour, and the death throes of creativity are really starting to show. Seeing things like "undisputably DT's best album" is really heartening.
Then again, I've already listened to it and love it to death, so I guess I can't talk. ^^;
Alright, off to put Tuesdays update into code. Thanks for reading!

You heard right! Cloudnigh is finally online!
For those of you who are a little bit lost, you can start reading the story by hitting "first chapter" above this space, or by going to the "story" tab on the top navigation bar and sifting through the table of contents. I've still got a couple of pages to put up, so don't mind the error 404 messages you may get. Aside from that, expect the story to start updating regularly on a Tuesday - Friday schedule starting early next week. For the first two weeks, there'll be a "supplement" episode posting every Wednesday to add a bit of insight into Roman and Kyrie's back stories.
Other than that, our forums are up and running. Head on over there to discuss the story, or just chill out. We've already got a few members, and they're a hellas laid back bunch.
I'm really psyched to have things going at last around here. It's taken four months of editing and about two years of on-and-off writing to get to this point. And as always, if you find any site errors or errors in the story you think I haven't caught, let me know (although Marina, my editor, is pretty frickin' thorough).
I hope you enjoy things =)
